Interviewing Tiffany Haddish, Back in Class, The Artist's Way

Long time no see. A lot has happened during the first few weeks of 2021. I moved back to LA to start a new job at a media start-up in Santa Monica called Bliss Point Media. I love it. Six months ago, I genuinely thought that I was not cut out for a traditional job. Now, I wake up every day excited to get to my computer, look at the latest TV trends, and talk to some of my favorite brands.

If you're grappling with a potential career change right now - you need to read this article on Wait But Why. My career hypothesis was that I would like a highly independent, analytical job in a field that interests me (i.e., media) that allows me the flexibility to work on all of my other projects in deep and meaningful ways. This one hits all the marks! In other news, I am back in class at Lesly Kahn & Co., plugging away at my book Cast Yourself: How to be an Entrepreneurial Artist in Hollywood, and working on my pilot presentation, Next Steps.

My book, Don't Wait, Create, is now available for pre-order!

I've had the chance to speak with amazing people (like the queen herself, Tiffany Haddish) - and I can't wait to share their stories with you.

Thanks to all of your support, we successfully raised over $6000 for my project, Next Steps. Unfortunately, filming is delayed until further notice due to COVID; however, we have an AMAZING cast lined up, and can't wait to bring this project to life.

I finished leading a 12-week The Artist's Way bookclub & am feeling inspired by everyone who participated. There were artistic breakthroughs, lots of morning pages, and puppets.

What I watched/am watching:

Peaky Blinders

Belgravia (not as good as Bridgerton)

Designated Survivor

The Social Dilemma

If you have any other recs for what I should watch in February, let me know!

Things I'm loving:

  1. Everything Regency-era (thanks, Bridgerton). I bought this long, fancy nightgown on Amazon and am living out my Regency ghost dreams in it.

  2. Reading books! I haven't read a book in an embarrassingly long time, and it turns out it's not my fault. It's my KINDLE'S FAULT. I can't remember anything I read on Kindle (and I'm not the only one). So I've transitioned back to regular paper books and couldn't be happier. I'm reading The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro this month. Send book recs my way!

  3. The 'gram. I recently signed up for ilovecreatives' Instagram Content Planning course, and it's fascinating. My Instagram is a pretty sporadic mess right now, but it's the primary way I keep in touch with most people, so I am excited to whip it into tip-top shape.

  4. Vegan cooking. Loving air-fryed tofu, spicy sesame noodles, and any Tabitha Brown recipe.

Let me know if you:

  • Want my vegan sesame noodle recipe!

  • Have or know someone who has "cast themselves" in their own production.

  • Know where to buy all of the costumes from Bridgerton.

  • Know of a good LA estate sale to go to.

  • Just want to catch up.
